Sarah Scoles is currently an editor at Astronomy Magazine, though she took a circuitous path to that position. After intending to be an astronaut and then intending to become an astronomer, she accidentally took a creative writing course and became obsessed with stories. Specifically the short ones. Since then, she has been a college writing teacher and an outreach specialist at the Green Bank Telescope, where she not only taught middle school science camp students about electromagnetic radiation but also kept them from making out with each other. She enjoys noticing details, stealing acquaintances’ anecdotes, running really far, staring into her dog’s eyes, reading, and writing. Though this is her first nonfiction performance, she has performed a secular wedding ceremony, and no one’s parents came after her with pitchforks. Her work has appeared in the Alaska Quarterly Review, LIT, Whiskey Island, Upstreet, DIAGRAM, Eastown Fiction, LIT, Fringe, and Booth.

Mary Zemaitis, a stand-up comedian based in Chicago, combines true stories with her sketch comedy background to entertain audiences. She has been featured in Beast Women Cabaret, 100 Proof Comedy, The Comedy Shrine, Tuesday Funk, and Mortified. Follow her on Twitter at @Zemidas_Touch, unless you are her mom.

Jesse Bob grew up in Indiana but has spent most of his life in Los Angeles, so he can ask for either a “pop” or “soda” with equal sincerity… You can read some of his stuff (mostly love letters to the City of Angels) at I’ll be going to hell.

We hope to see you there!
