Whether he’s co-producing a movie club, making theater that proudly describes itself as “absurd and audacious,” or documenting the important daily affairs of an exceptionally photogenic cat, he approaches life with the kind of curiosity that makes ordinary moments a little more interesting. We have a feeling that curiosity is about to make for a pretty great story.
Mason Johnson is a Chicago-based producer, writer, and creative collaborator. He co-produces Movie Club Chicago and Psycho Chicago, where a love of film and community come together. Most recently, he co-created Pet Cemetery (with a C): The Musical—an unapologetically absurd theatrical adventure featuring ghost goldfish, maniacal truckers, toddlers galore, and just enough chaos to keep everyone guessing. When he’s not making things with friends, there’s a good chance he’s spending time with his cat or finding another excuse to bring people together through art.
