Solo Chicago Fest Owen Kalt

Owen Kalt’s show Danny’s Friend has been accepted into the prestigious Solo Chicago Festival. The whole thing is going down between August 13th and the 23rd and you can get a $30.00 pass to see all the shows, or see Owen’s show on the 14th or the 16th for just $15.

Three Cat Productions is excited to announce the lineup for the second annual presentation of the SOLO Chicago festival. SOLO Chicago will feature individual performances by vocal artists, storytellers, and more. 2014 performers will include Captain Ambivalent, Mary Ruth Clarke, Jillian Erickson, Matt Griffo, Owen Kalt, Barbara Lau, Marissa Lichwick, Megon McDonough, Carson Reiners, Maureen Riley, Laura Scruggs and Debbi Welsh. Each evening will showcase individual presentations by multiple performers.

The festival will run Wednesdays through Saturdays, August 13 to August 23, with performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Berger Park Coach House Theater, 6205 N. Sheridan Rd., Chicago, IL 60660.

The SOLO Chicago festival is part of Three Cat Productions’ ongoing effort to offer Chicago artists a creative platform, foster relationships between local performers, and bring new work programming to the Edgewater area.

Stoop-Style Stories

When Dan Boyd suggested that I meet him at Stoop-Style Stories, I said, “Sure, I’ll be there!” It was about ten minutes later when my worry started to kick in:

“I don’t know where this place is, how will I get there? What if I’m not cool enough? Or what if it’s super awkward to go up to strangers and ask if they’re Dan Boyd? It’ll be dark. I could get struck by lightning. Or kidnapped by goblins.”

To at least muffle the voice of my worries, I brought a friend. Goblin crisis averted.

Before Stoop-Style Stories, I had never been to a storytelling show, so I had no idea what to expect when I waltzed into Rosa’s Lounge. What I did find, as the evening progressed, is something that regular storytelling audience members will take as a matter of fact: this is a ritual.
