Here’s the Story Kickstarter Campaign Kickoff!

This is Here’s the Story’s most awesome month yet. And to celebrate we’ve decided to dabble in fundraising Kickstarter style.

yes!

If you click on the above linked image you will get badges, avatars, facebook and google plus covers. All of them created by Stefan Saito.

Check it out below, this fits perfectly:

Together we are going to make 2013 happen. That’s over 60 features, a monthly Here’s the Story show at Stage 773, street theater projects like Journey to the End of the Night, Story Swaps, articles about the live lit scene, and festival appearances–all coming our way in 2013.

A lot of you have gotten a chance to see us live and in person, you know what we can do together on shoe string budgets. For those that haven’t gotten a chance to be a part of Here’s the Story go download or stream some of our free podcasts. It might not be as fun as straight up breaking bread with us at the monthly potluck, but it’s a good start to see what sort of community building we are doing.

Here’s the Story has been working hard these past two years to herald storytelling in its three main functions, listening, telling, and living.

Chicago’s spoken-word/live-lit scene is burgeoning and beautiful, and Here’s the Story holds a unique and vital place in it. We provide a place for people from all walks of life to come together to listen and share with one another. Unlike many local events, we encourage embodied telling; no reading off of a page, and we don’t just invite writers; we bring together musicians, professors, choreographers, activists, artists, commedians, teachers, cab drivers, and on and on, to find out how much we all have in common.

Here are some other things about us:

1. We are invite everyone. Though the monthly potluck is a high priced, and ticketed show, you can always get in for free if you’re willing to share a dish. Our Story Swaps and street theater shows are always free. This allows for a wide array of audience to see us. Everyone’s story is welcome.

2. We are copy left. Everything we publish on the website is under a creative commons, non commercial, attribution license. That means you can take it, remix it, share it, and use it almost anyway you see fit.

3. We offer a space for produced solo performance that breaks the mold of traditional memoir and personal story while still allowing for tales of that nature.

Thank you for being a part of our story so far. Thanks for loving us as much as we love you back.
