Literacy Works teaches adults to read both via low literacy advocacy and by way of ESL classes. Literacy works with multiple organizations in Chicago to create workshops and rubrics for teaching teachers.
While it’s a hard number to quantify, the generally reported consensus is that 32 million Americans currently can’t read. IL is in the bottom half of per capita literacy rates with as much as 24% of our population being unable to pass basic literacy tests. While Story Luck is primarily focused on the oral tradition regarding storytelling, you’ve gotta know that we love books.
Dan’s been working hard on this featured piece, and we’re proud to see him raising money for this great cause. If you haven’t seen him in a while, this is perfect opportunity.
